A Stirling location to start our journey

Well we have made it to Europe. Our flight was pretty good except for a ground delay of a little over an hour at Newark. The best part of the flight was being able to watch some of The Movie (Monty Python and the Holy Grail), over the shoulder of a girl on the plane. Pity we couldn't hear the dialog.

We arrived at Edinburgh airport on Wednesday, and refreshingly found the immigration officials pleasant and very easy going. The same pleasant and helpful nature was also apparent with the Scottish Rail staff we encountered on the train to Stirling.

In Stirling we have been visiting with some friends we haven't seen for a couple of years. David and Cecilia have been in Stirling whilst Cecelia has been working on a project to weave replicas of a set of medieval tapestries. David has been showing us around the town for the last couple of days, including visiting Stirling Castle, where Cecelia is working.

Stirling Castle is well worth a visit. It has a long history of conflict with many changes in its configuration over the years, but managed to survive the introduction of the cannon. The reason for the many battles at Stirling is its strategically important position within Scotland.

Hi Brett and Rebekah!
So glad you made it safely to Stirling and are beginning to enjoy a wonderful vacation! You so deserve it after all the stressful prep to get there!
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers. I am admiring them while burning my rose and pomegranite candle, thinking of you two. It is a rainy and dreary Tacoma morning. I hope you are in sunny Scotland skies!
We look forward to your further adventures!
Love, Joann, Wally, and Evan
